Ο Richard Lee Byers είναι Αμερικανός συγγραφέας, γεννημένος στις 21 Σεπτεμβρίου του 1950 στο Columbus του Οχάιο. Είναι πτυχιούχος Ψυχολογίας κι έχει, μάλιστα, εργαστεί στον χώρο της Ψυχικής Υγείας για μια δεκαετία, προτού αποφασίσει να ασχοληθεί μόνιμα με τη συγγραφή.

Στο παρελθόν έχει διδάξει δημιουργική γραφή στο Hillsborough Community College. Τα έργα του εκτείνονται σε όλη την γκάμα του Φανταστικού, από fantasy και science fiction μέχρι και horror. Λατρεύει την ξιφασκία και το πόκερ.
